The Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency Deaconess Mrs Abasioffiong Offiong has intensified efforts to cushion the effect of the Cholera outbreak as medical commodities have so far been sent across the affected communities/LGAs as Abi, Obubra, Etung, Ikom, Akamkpa, etc have all confirm to have received medical commodities.

Mrs Abasioffiong who sent her appreciation to all the PHC Directors for working extra hard to cushion the effect of the outbreak has also sympathized with the PHC Director of Akamkpa who was involved in an accident in the course of duty.

She has reassured cross riverians that government will continue to intervene as house to house sensitization will continue along side the Cholera capacity building and training of health workers that has commenced in full swing. Abi LGA will be trained on Monday through Tuesday, Obubra will take their turn on Wednesday through Thursday and Ikom will follow suit amongst other LGAs.

The DG during a response visit in Akamkpa LGA assured the people that partners have been contacted as well as the NPHCDA and as such more medical commodities will be sent across as government will continue to be up and doing to ensure mortality rate is drastically reduced/avoided. She called on those who have been affected to access care in any nearby health facility and not resort to self medication.

The DG ended by thanking the leadership of the CRSMOH headed by Dr. Janet Ekpenyong, the State Epidemiologist Pst. Inyang Ekpenyong, partners and MDAs such as WHO, NCDC, UNICEF, MSF, Save the Children, etc for the synergy and efforts.
