Health they say, is wealth as no unhealthy individual, state or nation can actualize efficiency and obtain optimal productivity hence the need to create a sustainable funding process to ensure all round availability, accessibility and affordable healthcare system.
State commissioner for Health, Dr Janet Ekpenyong stated this during the 2023 World Health Day while urging other states to emulate Cross River\’s Template in investing in the health sector as the nation presses closer to actualizing \”Universal Health Coverage\”.
She said for the actualization of this year\’s theme, \” Health for All\”, it\’s imperative for State governments, Organisations and individuals to massively promote quality healthcare delivery to promote inclusiveness in facility patronage and on the go professional services.
She noted that, the massive and huge investment in facility remodeling, building, renovation and drug stocking in Cross River state is one gesture that every state government must imitate and showcase at every level as well as the recruitment of health personnel at all cadres.
\” The state is in the right track to actualizing desired development to meet global standards and promote equitable healthcare for all.
It\’s a day(Universal Health Day) to remind us on the need to unite and make progressive moves towards total eradication of common diseases and illnesses.
Occasions like this create pathways for nation\’s to achieving healthcare for all by employing all means to getting stakeholders invest in the health sector just like the gains we have recorded in Cross River State where today our people enjoy one of the best health services in our ultra modern health facilities equiped with state of the art machines like what we have in Obudu Local Government Area the other two senatorial districts\”.
