On this day, July 6, 2023, the student union Body of the University of Calabar (Unical), led by Tyrone Bassey, presented an award of honor to the chairman of NYCN CRS, Comr. Dan Obo Jr., for his support of the union.
The SUG President, Comr. Tyrone Bassey, who was accompanied by the director of information, the director of social, and other executives, appreciated the chairman for his concern for the welfare of Nigerian students and the advice he has been giving to his administration.
The President, Comr. Tyrone Bassey, on behalf of the student union government at the University of Calabar, presented an award of honor to the state chairman, NYCN, for his great love for student unionism in the state and his administration.
The chairman, who is youth inclusive, appreciates and welcomes them to his office. He further informs them of why he doesn\’t collect awards from SUG executives, telling them this is the first student award he has collected.
The Chairman tells them he finds no reason to involve himself in student union affairs regarding awards and consultation because, as a leader serving the state youths, he has to come in on certain figures that involve youths, not on the election phase or the decision of who will lead as president or any governing office in school.
Setting an example at the time of protest where he comes in and reduces the mindset of protest and sets in peace, which is the best time for him to come out as a youthful leader.
He appreciated the Union for remembering him and seeing his contribution as a better way for the growth of the union, and he promised to work together for better youthful leadership.
