The Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON), the largest socio-political organization in the state, convened a major strategic meeting on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar. The event brought together over 2,000 representatives from the 76 wards of the 7 local government areas in the Southern Senatorial District Odukpani, Biase, Akamkpa, Calabar South, Calabar Municipality, Bakassi, and Akpabuyo.
The meeting began with an opening prayer led by Pastor Akanimoh Boswel, seeking blessings for CRISPON and the state.
The Director General of CRISPON and Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Dr. Prince Michael Nku Abuo, JP, addressed the gathering. He emphasized the purpose of the meeting: to plan and mobilize for the forthcoming endorsement rally in honor of Governor Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the U.J. Esuene Stadium.
- Dr. Abuo noted that the event coincides with the Governor’s second anniversary in office and highlighted his administration’s accomplishments in infrastructure and people-centered programs. He described the rally as a show of gratitude and continued support for the Governor’s “People First” agenda.
We aim to mobilize over 15,000 CRISPON members across the Southern District to honor and endorse His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu. This demonstration of support will also be replicated in the 66 wards of Central and the 54 wards of the Northern Senatorial Districts, Dr. Abuo stated.
As part of preparations, members were divided into working groups, with leaders nominated and several subcommittees formed to oversee the planning and execution of the rally. A final pre-mobilization and sensitization event is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11 a.m., also at the U.J. Esuene Stadium.
In her closing remarks, Princess Okuanwan E., Deputy Director General (South), thanked all attendees and assured them of CRISPON’s continued commitment to protecting the interests of its members.
A comprehensive list of group leaders and members of the Central Planning and subcommittees will be published in the coming days.
