RE: C\’River Assembly Members Fume Over Neglect By Otu, Suspend Sittings Indefinitely

We wish to address recent reports circulating in some sections of the media, specifically from a source known as \”The Beagle News,\” regarding the suspension of plenary sessions at the Cross River State House of Assembly. We want to categorically state that these reports are inaccurate and misleading.

Contrary to the claims made in the said reports, the Cross River State House of Assembly has not suspended its plenary sessions. Under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt Hon. Elvert Ayambem, the House continues to operate smoothly, and its members enjoy a strong and cordial relationship with the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu.

Majority of the members traveled to attend the inauguration of ministers from Cross River State. Currently, some of them are encountering challenges in booking return flights to Calabar due to the unavailability of flights.

It is important to rely on credible and verified sources of information to avoid misinterpretation and misunderstandings. The Cross River State House of Assembly remains committed to its legislative duties, serving the best interests of the people’s Assembly mantra.

We urge the public to disregard the misinformation spread by unreliable sources and to seek accurate information.
The Cross River State House of Assembly stands united in its dedication to serving the citizens and working in harmony with the executive arm of the government for the betterment of the State.

Signed,
Matthew Okache,
Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker.
