Cross River Govt Orders Immediate Withdrawal of Unauthorized Evacuation Passes

In line with the directive of His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, to restore full order and transparency within the operations of the Cross River State Forestry Commission, the following measures have been issued for immediate compliance:

1. Withdrawal of Existing Evacuation Passes:
All evacuation passes currently in circulation or previously issued before this directive are hereby declared invalid. Holders of such documents are mandated to return them without delay to the office of the Permanent Secretary, Cross River State Forestry Commission.

2. Prohibition of Unauthorized Issuance:
Field staff are strictly warned that any further issuance of evacuation passes without proper authorization from the Commission will be considered a serious violation. Offenders will face severe disciplinary and legal consequences in accordance with the laws of Cross River State.

This action is part of the government’s broader reforms aimed at curbing illegal logging, restoring accountability in forest resource management, and ensuring that forest activities align with sustainable environmental practices. The Governor has reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for corruption, illegalities, and abuse of process within the forestry sector.

The Forestry Commission hereby calls on stakeholders, community leaders, contractors, and the general public to cooperate fully with this directive.
