“This Homecoming represents a deep reconnection with our brothers and sisters from the Caribbean,” Prince Okor said. “It is about rediscovering our roots, celebrating unity, and creating new pathways for partnerships in tourism, investment, and cultural exchange. Cross River is ready, and we are working with every relevant institution to make this experience seamless and memorable.”

He further explained that CRIDCOM, in collaboration with key stakeholders, is ensuring that every stage of the guests’ travel, arrival, and engagement reflects the hospitality and excellence the State is known for. According to him, Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu remains deeply supportive of the initiative and has shown unwavering commitment to positioning Cross River as the heartbeat of diaspora relations in Nigeria.

Prince Okor commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for its cooperation and readiness to facilitate the arrival of the visitors, stressing that its role remains vital to the success of the Homecoming Convention. He noted that the synergy between CRIDCOM and the Service reflects the State’s holistic approach to ensuring effective coordination ahead of the October event.

In his response, the State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Emeka Eneh, applauded the efforts of the Commission and pledged the Command’s full support in processing travel documentation and entry procedures for the incoming guests. He described the Homecoming as a landmark initiative that highlights Cross River’s leadership in cultural diplomacy and global engagement.

The Comptroller assured that the Command will collaborate with relevant Federal and State agencies to guarantee smooth arrivals and efficient handling at all entry points. He emphasised that the event will not only reconnect the diaspora community with their ancestral roots but also strengthen Nigeria’s global image of hospitality and unity.

The Nigeria Homecoming Convention, jointly organised by the Cross River State Government and the Global United Christian Community African Diaspora (GUCCAD) Nigeria, will feature heritage tours, business forums, and cultural showcases designed to deepen diaspora connections and promote investment opportunities across the State.
