In a significant milestone for the State’s development agenda, the Chairman of the Cross River State Diaspora Commission CRIDCOM and the Commissioner in charge of Finance and Accounts received the Act establishing the Commission.
The ceremony took place at office of the Clerk, Cross River State House of Assembly, and was performed by Mrs. Catherine Ubi Esq., Clerk of the House.
The establishment of CRIDCOM is part of Governor Bassey Otu’s administration’s broader agenda to tap into diaspora resources, skills, and influence as a key component of the State’s long-term development strategy. The Commission is expected to serve as a bridge between the Government and Cross Riverians in the diaspora, fostering investment, cultural exchange, and strategic partnerships that contribute to the State’s development.
The Chairman of CRIDCOM, Hon. Otu Okor has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, and pledged to deliver on the Commission’s mandate. He emphasised the importance of collaboration and collective effort in achieving the State’s development goals, urging Cross Riverians in the diaspora to support the government’s efforts through the ‘People First Agenda’ policy.
With the establishment of CRIDCOM, Cross River State is poised to deepen its global ties and leverage the potential of its citizens abroad to drive growth, development, and innovation.
The Commission’s work will be crucial in promoting the State’s interests globally and contributing to its long-term development.
