It’s no longer a rumor that Comrade Dan Obo Jnr, the current Special Adviser on Youth Mobilization to the Governor of Cross River State, has officially emerged as the Vice President (National Executive Council) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

In a media chat, Comr. Dan Obo revealed that his emergence was not by chance but a result of merit and hard work during his tenure as the Cross River State NYCN Chairman. According to him, the VP NEC NYCN position was initially zoned to Akwa Ibom State, but due to his track record and recognition as the best-performing state chairman in Nigeria, he was considered worthy of the office.

Speaking on how he intends to balance his responsibilities, Dan stated that he is fully prepared to serve in both capacities. He highlighted the strategies he used to bring visibility to the NYCN in Cross River, a council that was once barely recognized within the state or across Nigeria. These same strategies, he noted, would now be applied at the national level.

Dan also reassured youth stakeholders in the state that he remains committed to inclusive leadership, ensuring NYCN leaders across Cross River are carried along as he carries out his dual mandate.

In his words:
“I have boundaries as a youth mobilizer serving in the capacity of SA youth Mobilization. People often mistake my role for youth development. My duty is to mobilize youths across the state to align with the government’s development agenda.”

While speaking, Dan Obo also Tilt towards applauding His Excellency, the governor of Cross River State Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu for youth inclusion

He concluded by stressing that holding a national position is not a burden but a responsibility he is well prepared for, especially as it comes at a time when young people in the South-South region need direction.

“There’s a need to change the mindset among our youths especially those who see Politics, frauds, drugs, and crime as a way of life only for survival. These vices are becoming rampant and must be tackled head-on. My appointments, both at the state and national levels, are not strange to me, and I didn’t get here by lobbying, I earned them.”
