Dear Nigerians,
Today, we join the global community to commemorate World Cancer Day 2026, themed “United by Unique.” This day is a reminder that cancer affects not only individuals but also families and communities, bringing emotional, financial, and social challenges.
The theme emphasizes that every cancer journey is unique, and our response must reflect compassion, inclusivity, and people-centred care even as every patient deserves dignity and support.
Governments at all levels must strengthen prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment, including enhanced cancer screening programmes, expanded oncology services, and wider access to essential medicines.
As a nation, we must stand united in our diversity, supporting those living with cancer, breaking stigma, and promoting healthier lifestyles. Together, we can build a future where cancer care is accessible, dignified, and compassionate for all Nigerians.
