In June 2022, the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency with support from the Basic Health Care Provision Fund trained 62 Midwives and engaged 27 into some of our Apex PHCs to breach the gap of Skilled Birth Attendants and also fulfill the goal of Reaching every ward with Skilled Birth Attendants to reduce the Maternal and Newborn morbidity and mortality rate.

This is one of NEMCHIC High Impact Interventions. Those deployed were paid #35000 only as monthly stipends.
NPHCDA upgraded the stipends of the BHCPF Midwives to Minimum of #70,000 monthly stipends and instructed all the States to pay nothing less than #70,000 to the Midwives.
The Good News is that our very proactive DG of CRSPHCDA Deaconess Mrs Abasioffiong Amos Offiong has commenced the payment of the #70,000 to our serving BHCPF Midwives yesterday 23/05/2023.

The midwives are using ODK to upload their monthly reports directly to the National server. National had instructed that only the Midwives who sent their reports are qualified for payment. The ODK list is therefore what guarantees the payment.
Dcnss Mrs Abasioffiong Amos Offiong the Director General of SPHCDA is also increasing the number of the deployed Midwives from 27 to 45.
God be praised
