RE: OBO UNITED FOR SENATE

The attention of concerned stakeholders of the Obudu/Bekwara/Obanliku Federal Constituency (OBO) has been drawn to a circulating document purportedly issued in response to the earlier position of the OBO Movement. While the said document claims to correct a perceived narrative, it unfortunately falls into the same shortcomings it seeks to address.

The document reportedly contains 27 signatories. However, findings from our investigation indicate that several individuals were misled into endorsing it without full knowledge of its content, thereby exposing them to undue public embarrassment. It is particularly disappointing that some of the signatories are respected academics, from whom a high standard of professionalism and ethical responsibility is expected.

We categorically state that the said document does not represent the collective position or interest of the OBO constituency. It lacks broad-based consultation and fails to reflect a credible or inclusive process of opinion gathering within the constituency.

This development underscores the extent to which the struggle for political advantage has been taken, often at the expense of due process and integrity. Such actions are unacceptable and do not confer legitimacy on those behind the document.

The people of OBO Federal Constituency are fully aware of their rights and will not be swayed by divisive or misleading tactics. We remain confident that, at the appropriate time, the leadership of the party in the state will act with fairness and sound judgment in addressing the matter.

We align with the principle of justice as fairness, as espoused by philosopher John Rawls, which promotes equity, inclusion, and peaceful coexistence. In this regard, the issue of representation in the Cross River North Senatorial District deserves careful, rational, and equitable consideration to ensure the best outcome for all.

Consequently, we unequivocally disassociate ourselves from the contents of the said document as it relates to the Cross River North Senatorial seat.

We also commend the leadership and members of the OBO Movement for their courage, commitment to truth, and resilience in the face of intimidation.

With OBO Movement, We Stand.
