In a heartfelt show of gratitude and community service, Hon. ThankGod Ojong, Councilor representing Abia Ward and Leader of the Etung Legislative Council, has marked his thanksgiving celebration of one year in office with a remarkable acts of generosity and educational support to his constituents.

The thanksgiving, held at Mary Mother of Perpetual Help Parish, Abia, was led by Rev. Fr. Moses Ogar, where Hon. Ojong offered thanksgiving prayers and made a cash donation to the church in appreciation of God’s faithfulness throughout his tenure.

As part of his thanksgiving outreach, Hon. Ojong extended his goodwill to various sectors within Abia Ward. He distributed wrappers to mothers, appreciating their role in building families and communities.

In further demonstration of his passion for education, the councilor distributed customized notebooks to all schools in Abia, including:

  • St. Francis Primary School, Abia

  • Seat of Wisdom Nursery, Primary, and Secondary School, Abia

  • Evangel Nursery, Primary, and Secondary School, Abia

  • Primary School, Ejip (Abia Clan)

  • Ogim-Onor Secondary School, Abia

Hon. Ojong also provided school fee support to two university students—one from the University of Calabar and the other from the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS).

Additionally, he paid full school fees for:

  • 5 students from Ogim-Onor Secondary School, Abia

  • 1 student from Seat of Wisdom Secondary School, Abia

  • 1 student from Evangel Secondary School, Abia

To further encourage primary education, he covered government levies for 20 pupils from St. Francis Primary School and 15 pupils from Primary School Ejip, Abia Clan.

Speaking after the event, Hon. ThankGod Ojong expressed his deep gratitude to God for His guidance and protection, adding that his thanksgiving was not only a personal reflection of faith but also an opportunity to give back to the community that entrusted him with leadership.

He reaffirmed his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents, especially through education and empowerment programs aimed at building a brighter future for Abia Ward.
