The Federal Government has commissioned Youth Initiatives Liaison Officers (YILO) in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This strategic move, led by Ms Titilope Gbadamosi, the Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Youth Initiatives (Monitoring and Delivery), aims to ensure the effective monitoring, delivery, and alignment of federal youth programmes with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
The Youth Initiatives Liaison Officers are tasked with the crucial role of disseminating and overseeing key youth-targeted programmes initiated by the Federal Government. These initiatives include the Student Loan Scheme, Consumer Credit Corporation, Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) Programme, Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA), Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA), National Youth Talent Export Programme (NATEP), Micro and Small Business Loan, Housing Initiatives, and the Nano-Business Support Scheme.
This coordinated effort is designed to ensure that these programmes resonate with the needs and aspirations of Nigeria’s youth and are delivered effectively at the grassroots level.
The YILOs will act as a vital link between the government and the young population, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are addressed.
Ms Gbadamosi highlighted the importance of this initiative during the inaugural meeting of the Youth Initiatives Liaison Officers. The meeting, which included Special Advisers and Assistants on Youth Development to State Governors, was held in a hybrid format, allowing for both physical and virtual participation.Â
The establishment of these liaison officers across the federation marks a significant step in the government’s commitment to empowering the youth and ensuring the success of its various youth-focused programmes. Through these efforts, the government hopes to create more opportunities for young Nigerians and align with President Tinubu’s vision of a prosperous and inclusive nation.
Mr Dan Obo, Special Adviser on Youth Mobilization to Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
He encouraged that the youths of Cross River State should take advantage of Federal Government programmes as listed above, revealing that his office is open to all yo seek clarity and guidance on those programs
