CROSS RIVER STATE POLICE COMMAND
PRESS RELEASE
The Cross River State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that a yet-to-be-identified child was found on Monday, 6th April 2026, at about 0830hrs within the premises of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Akim.
The child was brought to the Police by a security guard attached to the church after he was discovered wandering within the premises. Efforts to obtain useful information from the child proved unsuccessful, as he could neither state his name, address, nor identify his parents or guardians.
Preliminary findings suggest that the child may have either been abandoned or lost his way.
The child is currently in protective custody at Akim Police Station, where adequate care and safety measures have been put in place pending identification.
Members of the public who may have information regarding any missing child, or who can assist in identifying the child or locating his parents/guardians, are kindly urged to report to Akim Police Station or contact:
