Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has justified his recent frequent absences from the state, explaining that his travels are aimed at attracting international investments to boost the state’s economy.
Amid growing public commentary over his travels, the Governor addressed his cabinet during the 11th Council meeting, emphasizing that his engagements outside the state are a strategic policy to draw investments and businesses capable of driving economic growth. This was highlighted in a resolution signed by the Commissioner for Information, Erasmus Ekpang.
The resolution assured citizens that the impact of these initiatives would soon become evident, as the state moves towards greater economic viability and stability.
Governor Bassey Otu also issued a stern warning to commissioners and key aides, cautioning them against abandoning their offices or failing to attend state events in his absence. He reminded them of his earlier directive to fully participate in government activities, whether he or the Deputy Governor was present or not.
To ensure accountability, the Governor mandated all Commissioners to submit a detailed report of their ministries’ achievements to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government within one week for appraisal.
“This administration will not tolerate indolence,” Otu stated, urging his team to align with his leadership’s vision and commitment to the state’s progress.
