In Nigeria, one of the tragedies that comes with politics, especially in Cross River State is the unfortunate amnesia that many electorates, specifically, young people readily suffer at the eve of every election.
Today, I see Cross Riverians on cyberspace jubilating over the goose construction of Abuochiche-Ubepa-Akurinyi road in Bekwarra Local Government Area barely 6days to the 2023 general election by Hon. Legor Idagbo.
Like it is impossible for a leopard to shade its dark spots, it is almost impossible for a bad leader to change which Hon. Legor Idagbo has clearly shown without repentance. The jamboree construction if it comes with anything, it will still be abandoned after the February 25th, 2023 election like others.
IT IS THE TIME OF THE NORTH; IMOKE CLARIFIES THE POSITION OF PDP
Sometimes, I wonder why most people forget so easily in this part of the world. Prior to the 2019 elections, Hon. Idagbo came up with this clannish and poor strategy to construct the Unwapu-Ukparibu\’s road. Fortunately, the strategy worked for him, but the road has become a deathtrap for our people today as it was abandoned immediately after the election till date.
Subsequently, in 2020, Hon. Idagbo in his first attempt to touch the lives of our people after spending about a decade in public offices, of all things, he facilitated the training of about 300 youths on phone repairs across his constituency. Commendable as the program maybe, the contract was awarded to his brother and the start-up parks for
participants was hijacked. Even the paltry Thirty Thousand Naira(N30,000)stipend reportedly approved for participants to aid their fairs, Ten Thousand Naira(10,000) was callously deducted leaving only Twenty Thousand Naira(20,000) for them. The purpose of that training remain defeated till date as none of the participants have been able to start up anything for themselves.
Tinubu is the next President of Nigeria vote for him!- President Buhari
Hon. Legor Idagbo has done nothing throughout his almost eight years in office as a Federal Legislator other than playing on the gallery with his mumbo jumbo bills, motions and sharing of refurbished cars to his party faithfuls.
As a Federal Legislator in the lower Chamber in the same Constituency, instead of Hon. Idagbo to support his elder brother and senior colleague, Senator Jarigbe Agom\’s bill which was only left with the President\’s assent for the establishment of Federal University of Technology, Ogoja(FUTOG), Hon. Idagbo preferredd the path of frustrating this developmental stride of the distinguished Senator, thereby sponsoring a new bill for the establishment of one Federal University of Environmental Sciences, Bekwarra. It will be instructive to know that after about two years now, the so-called bill has not pass the second reading.
In retrospect, and on a sad note, while some benevolent spirits lifted Hon. Idagbo to the enviable height he is today, Legor has obviously and sadly refused to replicate this same gesture to enable others under him to grow. In doing this, Hon. Idagbo has conspicuously on several election year Machiavelliantly prevented young and vibrant Bekwarra youths who ordinarily would\’ve changed the narratives of our people today from accessing power so they don\’t outshine him.
While I\’m not campaigning for anyone in the above seat or position, as a people, the choice is ours to chose between light and darkness, progress or retrogression and whichever choices we make today, we must live with them. We must see beyond Legor\’s gimmicks. We must think robustly beyond the usual ill conceived \”our own\” syndrome and reject Hon. Legor Idagbo in this election.
