Hoodlums Abducts Samuel Ekerenam prominent businessman in Akwa Ibom State.
Fear has gripped the town of Eket, Akwa Ibom State, after armed hoodlums kidnapped prominent businessman.
A businessman, Samuel Ekerenam, owner of Hephzibah Mall, located on Afaha Uqua Obok-Idim Road in Eket Local Government Area.
Mr Samuel is also a staff member of Chevron Nigeria Ltd, an oil Firm.
The criminals stormed the oil city, trailing and abducting Ekerenam.
A family source disclosed that Ekerenam had just returned from work on the day of the attack.
Violent Confrontation
The hoodlums shot of randomly scaring passersby away.
Gunmen brutally murdered the driver of the abducted Ekerenam, leaving his lifeless body in a pool of blood.
In the same vicious attack, the Police Orderly was severely wounded.
Eyewitness Account
According to eyewitness Udobong Asuquo,
“The hoodlums arrived at the shopping complex, shooting sporadically to scare people away.”
Claiming the life of the driver and injuring the Police officer attached to the kidnapped business man.
The incident occurred around 10:55 pm on Saturday the 24th of November.
Investigation and Response
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, confirmed the incident and assured that the Police are working to rescue Mr Samuel.
The Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has deployed tactical operatives to comb for the abducted businessman.
The Police are confident that Mr Samuel will be rescued unharmed soon.
However the family members await a ransom note.
Knowing fully well the motive of the attack.
This is not the first attack on the family.
In 2019, kidnappers abducted Mrs. Glory Ekerenam, the victim’s wife, in Eket.
The kidnappers later held her captive in a den in Ikot Ubo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, until her rescue.
