Confirming the incident on Monday, the Chief Medical Director of Omupo Cottage Hospital, Dr. Ismail Bakare, said the baby arrived at the hospital alive and is currently receiving medical attention.
According to Bakare, the newborn has been placed under close medical observation to ensure his condition remains stable while efforts are expected to begin to identify his parents or relatives.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, with many condemning the abandonment of the child and calling on relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
The baby remains in the care of medical personnel as authorities are expected to take further steps in line with child protection procedures.
