Residents of Ikang community in Ward 5 have made a passionate appeal to their representative in the National Assembly, urging swift intervention to address the prolonged lack of electricity in the area.

In a statement expressing both appreciation and concern, the community commended the Senator representing the district in the 10th Senate for his outstanding performance and dedication to service. However, they noted that despite ongoing developmental strides across the senatorial district, Ikang community continues to suffer from over two decades of total blackout.

According to the appeal, the community, which has a population of over 5,000 residents, has been without functional electricity due to the absence of operational transformers. This has significantly affected economic activities, small businesses, education, and general living conditions in the area.

Community members described the situation as “perpetual darkness,” emphasizing the urgent need for the provision and installation of electricity transformers to restore power supply to Ward 5.

They further called on the Senator to leverage his office and influence to secure the necessary approvals and facilitate the installation of the required electrical infrastructure.
