Itigidi College of Nursing Leads the Way in HND Programs

 

The College of Nursing, Itigidi, has made history by becoming the first institution in the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones to attain Higher National Diploma (HND) status. This remarkable achievement was recognized during the assessment tour of colleges of nursing in Cross River State, led by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Nursing, Mr. Coco-Bassey Esu.

Mr. Esu praised the Governor of Cross River State for his development drive, which has enhanced human resources and infrastructure development at the college. The Governor’s support has been instrumental in securing full accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

The college has undergone significant transformations since its establishment in 1981, evolving from a school of nursing to a college offering National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs in nursing sciences in the current Administration of Governor Bassey Otu.

The Provost of the college, Mrs. Ruth Ita Ebong, expressed gratitude to Mr. Esu for visiting the institution and recognizing the improvements made. She also thanked the Governor, Sen. Bassey Otu, for his unwavering support. The high point of the visit was the touring of the institution with management staff, led by the Registrar, Barr Aji Eko, who showcased the college’s facilities and achievements.
