The Chairman and members of the newly constituted Cross River State Local Government Service Commission have expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for the confidence reposed in them through their appointments to serve in the Commission.
In a statement issued in Calabar, the Chairman of the Commission, Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo, who spoke on behalf of the members, described the appointments as a great honour and a call to service.
He noted that the Governor’s decision to constitute the Local Government Service Commission demonstrates his commitment to strengthening governance institutions and ensuring efficiency within the local government administration in Cross River State.
According to the statement, the Commission recognises the strategic role of the local government system as the closest tier of government to the people and a critical platform for delivering development and public services at the grassroots.
The Chairman and members therefore assured the Governor and the people of the state that they would discharge their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of public duty.
They also pledged to work collaboratively with relevant authorities and stakeholders to strengthen the local government service and promote professionalism, accountability, and effective service delivery across the 18 local government areas of the state.
The Chairman and members also expressed gratitude to stakeholders and citizens of Cross River State for the goodwill shown since the announcement of their appointments, noting that such support will serve as encouragement as they undertake their responsibilities.
The members of the Commission include Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo (Chairman), Dr. Ekeng Effiom Edet, Dr. Emmanuel Itakui Ntuyan, Dr. Godwin Ondale Akpor, Hon. Obia Lawrence Bassey, Hon. Rita Ayim, and Hon. John Olom Otu.
