Yakubu Concludes Tenure, Hands Over to Colleague as INEC’s Acting Chairman

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially transitioned leadership as Prof. Mahmood Yakubu concluded his 10-year tenure and handed over to Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu as Acting Chairman.

The handover took place during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners in Abuja, where Prof. Yakubu announced he had begun his pre-retirement leave in line with the Constitution. He expressed confidence in Agbamuche-Mbu’s ability to lead the Commission effectively.
