Matters Arising From The 2026 Ground Breaking Ceremony of Boki East-West Road
Morally, every responsible government owes constituents a duty of fulfilling not just her campaign promises but meeting other infrastructural needs including Agriculture, Roads, Housing, Education, Healthcare , Security of lives and property among others.
This understanding of ethical leadership underscores the ‘hullabaloo’ trailing His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s dexterity on completing the much anticipated Boki East-West road.
On 22 January 2026, hopes finally returned to troubled constituents of Boki extraction following Governor Otu’s declaration of a state of ’emergency’ on the abandoned road with a view to assuage long-suffering of locales hitherto forced to cover distances in search of brotherly warm.
The project is considered strategic in ameliorating the transportation gap of two culturally united but geographically separated entities.

Recall that during the regime of His Excellency, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, the project gained oxygen to thrive but ironically nosedived to the abyss due to administrative bottlenecks.
Meanwhile, months after taking oath of office, Prince Bassey Edet Otu is poised to cascading his transformational blueprints into Cross River State Central Senatorial District epitomized with the groundbreaking ceremony of Boki East-West road.
Once completed as rightly envisioned, the project’s efficacy will dovetail into economic prosperity, social security and attraction of democratic dividends for rural dwellers in line with exponents of responsive governance.
Though the groundbreaking ceremony has come and gone, what is however instructive and evergreen in the lips of all and sundry is the developmental pace a project of such gargantuan magnitude will set for Boki sociopolitical and economic historiography.
The Governor’s undoubted commitment is re-enforced in his people’s first mantra which is attracting sweet sensations across the nooks and crannies of the state.
Hence to whom much is expected much is also given, Boki people in the spirit of solidarity and appreciation have endorsed and passed a unanimous vote of confidence on His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu to hold sway to power till 2031.
