An extraordinary achievement, Favour Ofili has become the first Nigerian woman to qualify for the final of the 200m event at the Olympics in 28 years, rewriting the history books and making her nation proud.
Ofili\’s remarkable qualification for the 200m final at the Paris 2024 Olympics is a testament to her exceptional talent, dedication, and perseverance. With a Season\’s Best time of 22.05s, she executed a flawless race plan to secure the second automatic qualification spot, finishing just behind Julien Alfred, who won the race with a time of 21.98s.

This outstanding achievement marks a significant milestone in Nigerian athletics, echoing the success of legendary athlete Mary Onyali, who won a Bronze medal in the same event at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Notably, Ofili was not even born at the time of Onyali\’s triumph, making her achievement all the more remarkable.
