The Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Nursing, Mr. Coco-Bassey Esu, has urged nursing students to ensure that the profession remains a beacon of hope and healing for generations to come. He made this call at the Maiden National Association of Nigeria Student Nurses and Midwives (NANSNM) South South Quiz and Awards event held in Calabar.
The event, which brought together stakeholders in the health sector, patrons of the Association, and students from across the South-South geopolitical zone, aimed to promote nursing excellence and empower the next generation of nursing professionals.
Mr. Esu emphasized the critical role nurses and midwives play in shaping the healthcare landscape. He encouraged students to strive for excellence, contribute to the profession’s growth, and occupy leadership positions to provide solutions to healthcare challenges.
The Special Assistant highlighted the need to invest in nursing education, practice, and research to enhance quality care and drive innovation and leadership. He acknowledged the pioneers who paved the way for the profession and recognized the invaluable contributions of nurses and midwives to the healthcare system.
The event celebrated academic excellence, innovation, and outstanding contributions in nursing and midwifery education. Exceptional achievements were recognized and rewarded to foster competition and collaboration among students.
The Zonal President, Comrd Anene Treasure Adaobi, welcomed participants and highlighted NANSNM’s mission to advocate for students’ rights and promote welfare nationwide. She wished participants luck and encouraged them to celebrate excellence and inspire future generations.
