The Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports Development, Ntufam Ekanem Ekpenyong, joined the Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Peter Odey, alongside the Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Agnes Atsu, representatives of MTN Nigeria, and other state officials for the official opening ceremony of MTN Champs Season 4. The event took place at the U. J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Nigeria, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, expressed appreciation to the Cross River State Government for supporting sports development and for recognizing the importance of nurturing young talents through sporting activities.

She further thanked the host state for warmly welcoming the MTN Champs team back and for providing schools in the state the opportunity to participate in the competition, while reaffirming the organization’s commitment to empowering young people through sports.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Peter Odey, appreciated MTN Nigeria for bringing the championship back to Calabar after two years. He expressed hope that the tournament would produce medals for the state and provide young Cross Riverians with opportunities to showcase and develop their sporting talents.
