Yesterday 12th December, I co-sponsored a motion on the consistent refusal of Julius Berger to appear before the Senate Committee on Works conducting the Investigative hearing on the slow pace of reconstruction of the Odukpani-Itu Federal Highway. The original motion on the slow pace of reconstruction work was first moved by myself on 20th November 2024, since that motion, the committee on works has held 3 investigative hearings with the Honorable Minister for Works, stakeholders and all contractors except Julius Berger which has failed to honor all 3 invitations to account to the Senate committee on its failure to construct its section of the federal highway and its abandonment of the site after being paid by the Federal Government.

The resolution of yesterday’s motion which was unanimously adopted by the Senate was the issuance of an arrest warrant on the Managing Director of Julius Berger and compelling the Inspector General of Police to produce the managing director of Julius Berger to the Senate Committee on Works.
This decision underscores the Senate’s commitment to ensuring transparency and progress on critical infrastructure projects. It is imperative that contractors handling vital projects like the Odukpani-Itu Highway are held accountable to deliver on their contracts for the benefit of our people and the development of our country.
