A content creator and influencer in Cross River State, Nsikan Umoh, popularly known as Kandy Umoh, has been arrested by the police over allegations of cyberbullying and defamation.
According to reports, the arrest took place around 4:00 p.m. on March 26, 2026, at his shop during working hours. Witnesses said a group of men arrived in a Hilux vehicle and, after a brief conversation, took him away without clearly identifying themselves, causing panic among those present.
It was gathered that about 24 weeks ago, Umoh had used his platform to draw attention to an alleged case involving Gabriel Nkanu, who accused the owner of Kal Vegas Hotel, Elijah, of failing to pay his salary.
In a viral video, Nkanu expressed frustration over being asked to carry out duties outside his role as a chef, including cleaning tasks, while his wages remained unpaid. He questioned the fairness of his treatment and called for accountability.
Sources indicate that while Nkanu reportedly filed a petition with the Public Complaints Office and has not yet been arrested, Umoh was instead picked up by the police and charged with cyberbullying and defamation related to the incident.
As of the time of filing this report, Umoh is in the process of granting bail and issued conditions requiring a surety. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state reiterated that bail remains free.
Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
