Speaking on the development, the Honourable Minister of Works, HE Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, described the project as a symbol of national inclusion, reintegration, and balanced development across the country.
According to Senator Umahi, the renewed commitment to infrastructure under President Tinubu’s administration has restored hope, especially in regions that previously felt neglected.

“There will be no need for Biafra again.
In the past, the South East was not just last, but forgotten. Today, President Tinubu has remembered us,” Umahi said.
He further revealed that all South East Governors are fully in support of President Tinubu, emphasizing that the region is ready to actively participate in the nation’s political and economic growth.
“We will give President Tinubu votes and compete with other zones so that we will seal our reintegration and take our rightful position,” he added.
The Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway is expected to boost economic activities, enhance connectivity, create jobs, and accelerate regional development across Nigeria’s coastal corridor.
The temporary opening of this section underscores the administration’s determination to deliver quality infrastructure, national unity, and sustainable progress.
