The Member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Rep. Bassey Akiba, has stated that the foundation for sustainable economic empowerment is being laid through the cooperative initiative, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the successful implementation of the scheme. He made this known during the verification exercise in Odukpani Central, where cooperative members turned out to participate in the process.
Speaking through the Chairman, Cooperative Implementation Committee(CIC), Prof. Charles O’Neill, Rep. Bassey Akiba emphasized that the cooperative scheme is central to his vision of supporting livelihoods, promoting economic self-reliance, and uplifting communities.
“This exercise is not a mere formality,” Rep. Akiba said. “We are laying the foundation for sustainable economic empowerment. The implementation of the cooperative scheme is non-negotiable and sacrosanct because it directly touches the lives of our people.”
