The Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Nursing, Mr. Coco-Bassey Esu, met with the new Director of Nursing Services, Mrs. Roseline Obojor Ogar, and unit directors and heads of units in the Cross River State Ministry of Health. The meeting was held to officially congratulate the new Director and seek synergy to move the Nursing Department and profession forward.
In his speech, Mr. Coco-Bassey Esu congratulated Mrs. Ogar on her emergence as the new Director of Nursing Services, attributing it to the will of God. He emphasized the need for synergy between his office and the Director of Nursing Services, as well as all stakeholders in the Nursing profession, to promote unity, professional growth, and patient care.
“Nursing is our profession, and we must work together to promote its growth and development,” Mr. Esu said. “We need to join hands with other stakeholders to call for unity, professional growth, and call to duty all in putting the patients and clients coming to seek health services to receive the best.”
The Special Assistant highlighted the importance of collaboration in revamping dormant units in the profession, particularly in Nursing audits and servicom in the clinical areas while efforts will be made to combat Quackery.He also called for policy implementation and best practices to ensure patients receive quality care.
Mr. Esu noted that His Excellency, Apostle Sen Dr Prince Bassey Otu, the Governor of Cross River State, had demonstrated his commitment to the Nursing profession by appointing two Nurses into the health sector. “He needs the best from Nurses who are the majority in the health sector to bring in the best for the health of the citizens,” Mr. Esu said.
Mrs. Ogar thanked the Special Assistant for the visit and congratulatory message, emphasizing her commitment to upholding the tenets of the profession, promoting unity, and building the ethics of the profession. “I am humbled for the goodwill, and I am committed to working with all stakeholders to build the profession,” she said. “I am ready to collaborate with the office of the Special Assistant and other stakeholders to build the profession.” ‘Let’s work together to build a stronger Nursing profession that will provide quality care to our patients and clients’.
The meeting was attended by several directors, including Pastor Dr. Inyang Ekpenyong, Cross River State Epidemiologist and Manager of the Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC) Mrs. Mary Amah, Program Manager State AIDS and STIs Control Program (SASCAP); Mrs. Ebe Ita, Manager Staff Clinic; and Mrs. Serah Unaji, Representative of CRS SERVICOM, among others. They all congratulated the Director of Nursing Services and applauded the Special Assistant for his advocacy for the profession.
The meeting demonstrated the commitment of the Cross River State Government to promoting the Nursing profession and ensuring quality healthcare for its citizens.
By fostering synergy and collaboration, the Nursing profession in Cross River State can achieve great heights and provide the best possible care for patients.
