Southern Nigeria Youth Congress Commends Gov. Otu, Donates Items to Cross River Govt via Youth Ministry

In a significant development, the Southern Nigeria Youth Congress (SNYC) held its successful first-quarter annual project meeting with Barr. Ijom Ukam, the Commissioner for Youth Development in Cross River State. The meeting, which took place yesterday at the Commissioner’s office, was marked by collaboration, goodwill, and a shared commitment to youth development.

In his address, the Chairman of SNYC, His Youthfulness, Comr. Enok Akpil Enok, highlighted the group’s recent efforts in beautifying the Ministry’s Conference Room. He explained that following the inauguration of the current executive, it was deemed necessary to transform the aesthetics of the conference room into a more befitting and inspiring space for young people to convene and engage in productive dialogue.

The Commissioner for youth Development, Barr. Ijom Ukam expressed profound gratitude to the SNYC for their thoughtful first-quarter project. He commended their proactive approach, emphasizing a shift from the prevailing “entitlement mentality” to a more service-driven mindset: “What can we do for the government?”

Barr. Ukam further assured the SNYC that they had endeared themselves to the Ministry, noting that the synergy between the Congress and the Ministry has now been firmly established. He praised the group’s inclusivity, especially their deliberate efforts to involve Persons with Disabilities.

He also pledged the involved of SNYC in key government activities, including project inspections across the 18 Local Government Areas, and would represent the Southern region at the upcoming National Youth Conference.

Furthermore, the National Representative of SNYC, Comr. Austin Nkom, applauded the Governor, whom he described as a people-centric leader. He also extended appreciation to the Commissioner and Ministry staff for their continuous support.

Comr. Nkom advocated for the empowerment of SNYC members through government appointments and employment opportunities, citing the wealth of talent and experience within the youth body across various sectors, including governance.
