Elvert Ayambem, the Speaker of the Cross River State Legislature, has issued a warning to the populace against overstepping legal boundaries.
The Speaker made this statement against the backdrop of a recent occurrence in which Mrs. Martina Okey Itagbor lost her life and was implicated in a car accident that took the lives of two young men in the neighborhood.
Indignant youngsters set the body of Madam Martina Okey Itagbor, a mother of four, ablaze in Old Netim, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Ayambem responded to the incident by saying that people who participate in such actions are advocates of jungle justice, which would not be let to flourish in the state.
In order to serve as a deterrence to others, he further emphasized that the culprits will be held accountable.
In order to prevent people from using the law as a weapon, which would further engender lawlessness in society, Ayambem urged all pertinent authorities to take decisive action.
