18th day of August, the Cross River State Youth Parliament (CRSYP) held its maiden plenary session. Where the Speaker enjoyed the opportunity of presiding over a very coordinated house where sound and brilliant motions were moved by parliamentarians from different LGAs.
Among them are:
1. Motion calling on the Cross River State Government to, as a matter of urgency, set up the Bakassi Rehabilitation and Reintegration Commission to address the social concerns of the people of Bakassi. Hon. Hon. Leo Asuquo representing Bakassi state Constituency Moved this motion, in his wisdom he had strongly opined that the indigenes people of Bakassi have endured hardship for way too long – and the need for succour to return is long overdue. This motion was co-sponsored by Hon. Pamela Essien, Hon. Nora Godwin, Hon. Esoung Anwakang.
2. Motion calling on The Cross River State Youth Parliament through the Ministry Of Youths And Sports Development to organize an awareness campaign on Anti- Drug Abuse and other related substances was moved by Hon. Anwakang representing Odukpani State Constituency in the CRSYP as was co-sponsored by Hon. Pamela Ekpenyong, Rt. Hon. Kyrian Ushie, Hon. Leo Asuquo and Hon. Osynemi Barry.
3. Hon. Pamela Ekpenyong, CRSYP Deputy Speaker moved a motion calling for urgent public importance regarding the bad roads and waste evacuation in the Calabar metropolis. A motion that was widely accepted on the floor of the house as it was co-sponsored by Hon. Festus Azogor, Hon. Grace Peter Effiong, Hon. Leo Asuquo, Hon. Ojong Thankgod Ekupnse.
It was a very thorough and exciting process, as Mr. Speaker was able to lead the house in a manner that was enticing and pleasing to all parliamentarians present.
