A delegation led by the Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Student Affairs visited the Chinese Embassy in Abuja to strengthen ties and explore opportunities for collaboration in education, cultural exchange, and attract investment. The meeting aimed to establish The Chinese Corner in Calabar, a hub designed to promote cultural integration, academic exchange programs, cross-border collaboration, and access to a wide range of opportunities.
During the meeting,The Special Assistant, Comrade Enyam, Joseph-Kelvin highlighted the potential benefits of The Chinese Corner, in-line with the People\’s First mandate of His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu in creating opportunities for Cross River State Students and the entire citizens, emphasizing its role in providing students with access to valuable resources and opportunities for cultural exchange, scholarships, internships, and other opportunities in China. The envisioned center would serve as a bridge, linking students from Cross River with educational and cultural experiences in China, thereby broadening their horizons and fostering mutual understanding between the two regions.
The Embassy Of China, represented by its counselor, Mr Li Xuda, expressed strong commitment to the project, assuring the delegation of the embassy\’s readiness to provide necessary support to ensure the successful establishment and operation of The Chinese Corner. This includes facilitating exchange programs, offering scholarships, and organizing cultural events that would benefit students and the broader community.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the exchange of symbolic gifts. The Special Assistant presented the Think Cross River Face Cap and T-Shirt, while the counselor reciprocated with the Chinese National Flag and other materials. Both parties expressed optimism about the future of the collaboration.
