The New CRS NYCN Chairman,Emmanuel Olayi led the administration to organize a town hall meeting and list measures to alleviate the hardships faced by the youth.
Emmanuel Olayi is the newly elected Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Cross River State Chapter.
Regarding the forthcoming nationwide protest, the new CRS NYCN chairman, Comr. . Emmanuel Olayi, led the administration to organize a town hall meeting to dialogue against the protest with youths from different local governments in Cross River State.
The dialogue was to discuss the way forward and to see reasons why Cross River State should be exempted from any form of protest.
The Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Rtd Commandant Patrick, shed more light on the danger of protesting, reminding the youths of the theme: end bad governance in Nigeria, of which every citizen in Cross River is aware. The senator, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has, under his magnanimous leadership, been reconstructing the state, touching on different sectors of rehabilitation.
The Commissioner for Youths, Barr Ijom Ukam, reacted regarding the need to abstain from destructive protests. He admitted that protest is constitutional, but it’s now seen as a tool for vandalism.
Barr. Ijom, who gave several ideas for youths of the state to see how they’ll dialogue with the government instead of protesting, said it’s a 10-day activism and a lot of hoodlums as we speak are planning to take advantage.
The Special Adviser General Duties to the Governor of Cross River State, Barr. Akiba Ekpenyong, enlightened the aftermath of seeing protest as a form of dialogue. A lot of renovation in the state due to the end-Sars protest is consuming the funds instead of creating something new for young people and cross-riverians at large.
Cross River State House of Assembly member representing Calabar municipal Hon. Boyce Nsemo assures the youths of Cross River State that no protest will be in his constituency.
The speaker of the Cross River State Youth Parliament, Hon. Victor Kejuo, reacts to the participation of youths joining the protest as null in the state.
While the dialogue proceeds, opportunities were given to youths of the state representing all the senatorial districts to air out their views. Youth leaders from different constituencies and senatorial districts react to the effects of EndSars and how it has crippled the development of their communities and local governments; therefore, they conclude with a no (they’re not in support of the nationwide protest).
The New NYCN CRS, Comr. Emmanuel Olayi, takes the podium as he assures everyone that he and his team will be committed to addressing the concerns that the government representatives raised.
We are actively engaging with youths across the state to gather first-hand information about your challenges and aspirations. Emmanuel Olayi
Olayi stated certain measures to alleviate the hardships faced by the youth of the state.
- Reactivation of the Scholarship Board and Implementation
- Bursaries
- Agricultural and Entrepreneurial Aid
- Job Opportunities
- Health insurance scheme
- Infrastructural development
- Engagement of youths by the local government authorities
He ended by saying, Above all, peace is sacrosanct, and as a council and leader, it is in their responsibility to maintain peace through dialogue and not protest. Together, we can work for a better Cross River State and a prosperous Nigeria.
After which, Chairman Emmanuel Olayi led the government officials in attendance on a tour around the youth house.
