Unical Medical Laboratory Science Students Cry Out

Written by calabarGist

Students of the 500 Level (First Semester) Medical Laboratory Science programme at the University of Calabar have raised concerns over what they describe as a serious delay in their academic progression.

According to the students, they are currently stuck in the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic session because the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria has not yet conducted their 400 Level Second Semester professional examination, which is required for them to advance to the next stage of their programme.

The students claim that a large number of candidates were admitted into the programme, and they believe the delay in conducting the professional examination has stalled their academic movement despite successfully completing their coursework.

Many of the affected students say they were expected to be in 500 Level First Semester of the 2025/2026 academic session, but the absence of the professional examination has kept them from progressing.

They are now appealing to relevant authorities, the university management, and the regulatory council to urgently intervene and resolve the situation, stating that the delay is affecting their academic future and causing significant distress among the students.
