Unpaid for 13 Months: Ogoja Urban Development Authority Workers Cry Out to Cross River Government

Serious concern has been raised over the plight of workers at the Ogoja Urban Development Authority, many of whom are elderly women, who have reportedly gone 13 months without salaries.

According to a citizen from Ogoja Local Government, who has repeatedly voiced the matter on Facebook, the workers whose monthly pay is just ₦5,000 have not been paid since 2024 up to September 2025. While some staff allegedly received their September salaries, many others remain completely unpaid.

The post, which tagged social media influencers and government officials, has so far gone unanswered. In the comment section, community members expressed frustration, with some urging the affected workers to abandon the job for their own survival, while others argued that the issue has become highly political, claiming those in power only look after their own interests.

This situation calls for urgent intervention from the Cross River State Government to address the hardship faced by these vulnerable workers who have dedicated themselves to urban development despite meagre wages.
