The Grassroots Initiative for Otu/Odey 2027 has been officially launched, with a strong call for unity and cross-party support for the administration of Bassey Edet Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey.
Speaking at the launch, the Founder and Director General, Awade Friday, explained that the movement was birthed from extensive engagement with communities across the state, aimed at understanding the real needs of the people.
According to him, the initiative is anchored on a simple but powerful principle—that every village and every community matters. He emphasized that the group seeks to bring people together, educate citizens at the grassroots, promote unity across party lines, and support leadership that is already delivering results.
Awade noted that effective leadership is currently in place under Governor Otu, urging citizens and political stakeholders—regardless of party affiliation—to rally behind the Otu/Odey administration for continuity and sustained development.
Highlighting reasons why other political parties should support the current government, the DG pointed to visible progress recorded across key sectors, including:
- Rehabilitation and improvement of road infrastructure
- Enhanced traffic management systems and street lighting
- Increased support for education
- Agricultural growth and empowerment
- Improved safety and security within communities
- Recovery of Tinapa Business and Resort Limited after 14 years under external control
