Central to this vision is the idea of “building, operating, and maintaining” a Geographic System for the state, which Archibong believes will be achievable with the support of Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.

“To achieve this, we are strengthening our software solutions, renewing expired licenses, and undergoing a total overhaul,” he emphasized.

Archibong highlighted the agency’s use of modern technology to administer land, ensuring a transparent and smooth process. For data protection, the agency has maximized the use of physical servers, cloud-based servers, and external hard drives.

“Furthermore, the agency is enhancing its archives by indexing, scanning, and digitizing existing land records, aiming to establish a comprehensive and efficient land cadastre for the state.

“A key aspect of the agency’s plans is the prompt issuance of Certificates of Occupancy, with a target of providing these within 21 days,” Archibong restated and emphasized the importance of partnerships, collaborations, and investments in ICT infrastructure and staff training to achieve efficient service delivery.

According to the DG, “the agency’s GIS is expected to be versatile and reliable, supporting various sectors of the State’s economy, reiterating that a functional, world-class GIS with outstanding service delivery is the agency’s ultimate goal for 2025.

“To achieve this vision, the agency will focus on enhancing its technical capabilities, improving data management, and ensuring the reliability of its systems. By doing so, the agency aims to provide exceptional service delivery and support the State’s economic growth,” he added.

The Cross River Geographic Information Agency’s commitment to progress is aligned with the state’s broader development goals. With the support of Governor Otu, the agency is poised to make significant strides in 2025, driving growth and development in Cross River State.

As the agency moves forward, it is expected to prioritize transparency, efficiency, and reliability in its service delivery. By leveraging modern technology and best practices, the agency aims to establish itself as a model for geographic information management in Nigeria.

Conclusion

Mr William Archibong stated the success of the Cross River Geographic Information Agency’s plans ultimately hinges on its ability to implement its vision effectively. With a well-defined roadmap and a strong commitment to progress, the agency is poised to achieve its objectives and contribute to the growth of Cross River State.
