World Autism Awareness Day 2025: Bassey Akiba Send Message to Mark date
Dear Nigerians,
As we mark World Autism Awareness Day, l celebrate the resilience and creativity of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD).
Observed annually on April 2, as designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2007, this day aims to promote awareness, acceptance, and inclusion of autistic individuals worldwide.
Individuals with Autism contribute uniquely to society, bringing diverse perspectives, creativity, and innovation. However, many face challenges in accessing education, employment, healthcare, and social support due to systemic barriers and misconceptions.
This year’s theme is “Advancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)”, highlighting the intersection between neurodiversity and global sustainability efforts.
By strengthening inclusive policies, early diagnosis, intervention, support networks, and awareness efforts, we can create environments that empower autistic individuals to reach their full potential while ensuring their rights, dignity, and well-being.
