YALI-CRS BAGS AN AWARD, AT THE JUST CONCLUDED YALI NETWORK NIGERIA NATIONAL SUMMIT.

Young African Leaders Initiative, (YALI), Cross River State Hub\’s coordinator, TM Tony Ebigwai has been awarded for his meritorious service and contribution towards the growth of YALI Network Nigeria.

The award which was delivered during a two day YALI Network Nigeria\’s Summit, hosted by the U.S. Mission, Nigeria and held in Abuja, was received by the Deputy Coordinator, Uket Friday.

The 6th annual summit themed \”Beyond Limits\” with focus on Innovation for Sustainable Development, had delegates across the states of the federation with some participants gaining instant job employment for their outstanding participation in the event.

The event had over 400 young Nigerian leaders aged between 18 and 35 with the aim of fostering collaboration and driving sustainable development in the nation.

Delivering the Keynote address, The U.S. Embassy’s public diplomacy officer, Julia McKay said the U.S government has been consistent in it\’s support for young individuals towards driving sustainable economies and fostering inclusive communities in Nigeria.

McKay further stated that “Research has shown that nations embracing gender parity and inclusion, witness heightened economic growth, reduced conflict, and increased literacy rates. She also retreated the commitment of the US department of state towards ensuring inclusiveness which the YALI Network embodies.

“We recognise the pivotal role young Nigerians, like yourselves, play in Nigeria’s future. We will persist in providing opportunities, such as the YALI Network, to equip young Nigerians with skills and connections, empowering them to catalyze change in their communities,” McKay said.

The U.S. Embassy also used the medium to announce that applications for the 2024 Mandela Washington Fellowship opened on August 15 and will close on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 while encouraging youths between the ages of 25 to 35, dedicated to driving positive change and development within their communities to apply.
