On a recent working visit to Kuje Prisons, located in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, the Special Envoy to West Africa for International Human Rights Protection Service, Ambassador Charles Omini, addressed the pressing issues within the judicial system. During his visit on Wednesday, Ambassador Omini urged the judiciary to discharge its duties with unwavering integrity and uprightness. He expressed deep concern over the number of citizens currently held in prison custody who, in his view, are innocent and unjustly punished.

Ambassador Omini’s statement underscored the importance of a fair and just judicial process, stressing that the judiciary is the last hope for the common man. He called for reforms that would ensure a transparent and accountable system, where justice prevails for all citizens, regardless of their social status or background.

The envoy’s remarks come at a critical juncture, as there is growing frustration within the public over the perceived failure of the judiciary to safeguard the rights of ordinary citizens. The need for judicial reform and an end to arbitrary rulings is more urgent than ever.
