Ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial election, the Cross River State Youths Leader of His Excellency, Peter Obi\’s Presidential Campaign Group, Comr. Onigah Joseph has advised youths in the state to shun the campaign of calumny, bitterness, and hate.
Comr. Onigah who made the call immediately after an undisclosed meeting today with some young people across political parties in the state said, it has become pertinent to make this call after the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly elections which is the most brazenly, insensitive and inglorious election ever conducted by the nation\’s electoral umpire, INEC.
Advising the youths, Onigah said, \”fellow young people in the state should stop widening the complexity already created by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and some desperate politicians in the national polity and embrace good politics based on issues\”
\”This call has become necessary as I\’ve watched with keen interest and uttermost dismay the unimaginable level of vilification, hate, and bitterness being peddled mostly by young people against a supposed good man who ordinarily ought to be celebrated by all.
When asked, who the \”good man ordinarily supposed to be celebrated by all\” was, he said,
\”Though the purpose of our meeting today was not to endorse any of the gubernatorial candidates, but to put the records of the major candidates side-by-side without bias, the result is clear.
\”I remember in 2015 when a certain National Assembly member\’s name in the Southern part of the state became a monumental household name because of his wonderful performances in the green and red chambers respectively. In a bid to tame his political fortune, the then-state emperor truncated the people\’s will and rigged his friend into office like Tinubu has done to our principal today.
\”Coincidentally, he contested this election on the same political platform of the Labour Party as our principal, Mr. Peter Obi\”

\”This fellow with a clean slate and multiple numbers of admirers facilitated among others the gigantic administrative edifice of the now University of Cross River State (UNICROSS). However, I hope our citizens don\’t reject him merely based on the political party he is today because political parties only serve as vehicles for political participation.
