The Cross River State Forum of Councilors, comprising 196 councilors from the 18 Local Government Areas of the state, has officially endorsed Governor Bassey Edet Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey, at the just-concluded 2026 APC State Congress.
The endorsement was led by the Forum Chairman, Hon. Magdalene Ekpe, who spoke on behalf of the councilors. She commended the governor and his deputy for what she described as impactful leadership and people-oriented governance.
Hon. Ekpe appreciated the administration for the payment of outstanding gratuities and other interventions across the state. She also acknowledged the efforts of the First Lady, Eyoanwan Otu, highlighting her humanitarian initiatives, including support for women in the northern part of the state, healthcare outreaches, and educational assistance programs.
Moving the motion for endorsement, Hon. Ekpe declared:
“I, Hon. Magdalene Ekpe, on behalf of the 196 councilors of Cross River State, hereby move a motion endorsing Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, for a successful second term in office.”
The motion was subsequently seconded by leaders of the Forum, signaling unanimous support from the councilors across the state.
