SLOGAN: FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE!
INTRODUCTION:
The People of Biase Local Government Area, it is with humility and honor I present my manifesto; outlining a blueprint for peace and conflict resolution among our people, and improving their standard of living through enhancing health care delivery, youths and women empowerments, entrepreneurship promotion and agricultural development.
As we stand at the crossroads of our collective future, I envision a Biase where every voice is heard, every hand is empowered, and every heart is united in the pursuit of a better tomorrow. Together, let’s build a brighter future for our great community. This is our journey, a journey for the people and supported by the people.
WHO IS ELD. DR. AJAH IBIANG AJAH aka ANIJAH PHARMACY.
I was born on November 24, 1963, in Adim community, I have dedicated my life to service, both in the private and public sector. My educational journey spans from the Presbyterian Primary School, Adim, to the prestigious University of Benin, where I earned my Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in 1987 and later my Pharm. D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) in 2019, having acquired a Master of Public Health from the University of Calabar.
I am a registered voter and a committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with a deep-seated passion for leadership that reflects in my roles as an ordained Elder of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (Cross River State Branch), and as a former Consultant to international NGOs.
PERSONAL VALUES:
My personal life is a testament to my values viz; honesty, integrity, motivation, and persistence. I am married to *Dr. Mrs. Eucharia Agom Ajah,* with whom I have four wonderful children, I understand the importance of family, community, and the responsibilities that come with leadership.
LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE;
My leadership journey began long ago, shaped by experiences that have prepared me to serve as your chairman, if elected. From my role as the Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Cross River State Branch, to establishing and managing Anijah Pharmaceutical Company Limited for nearly 30 years, I have always led with a vision of community upliftment and sustainable development.
I have also served as the Secretary-General of the International Conference of Adim Workers (I.C.A.W), where I spearheaded peace-building initiatives that have positively impacted our communities.
These roles have equipped me with the skills, experience, and insight necessary to lead Biase Local Government Area toward a brighter future. I shall continue to carry on the legacy of *Onun Ewuwuni 1* of Biase; *RT. Hon. Dr. Emil Inyang* , member of the House of representative representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency.
I shall continuously seek the advise of our leaders from Biase.
My agenda are;
1. PEACE BUILDING:
The foundation of development is peace and development cannot thrive in the absence of peace, and peace is not achieved by accident; it must be cultivated with intention and dedication. My commitment to peace is rooted in my experience with I.C.A.W, where I initiated peace-building visits to neighboring communities. As Chairman, I will scale this model to ensure that any animosities within Biase are addressed swiftly and effectively.
MODALITIES FOR PEACE-BUILDING:
1. Conflict Resolution Committees: I will establish dedicated committees in each ward to proactively address disputes before they escalate. I will collaborate and strengthen community base structures to ensure peace.
2. Community Dialogues: I will regularly schedule town hall meetings to foster open communication between communities and the council.
3. Peace Education: I will Implement peace education programs in community centers to instill the values of tolerance and understanding from a young age.
COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION FOR DEVELOPMENT
Our strength lies in our collective efforts. I will leverage the I.C.A.W model to mobilize our communities for self-help projects, while also engaging NGOs for additional support.
MODALITIES FOR COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION:
1. Community Development Councils: Formation of councils in each community to identify and prioritize development projects.
2. NGO Partnerships: Strengthen partnerships with local and international NGOs to fund and support community-driven projects.
3. Volunteer Programs: I will launch volunteer initiatives that encourage active participation in community development.
ENHANCED HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
Healthcare is the bedrock of a thriving community. My administration will ensure that every citizen of Biase has access to quality healthcare services, regardless of their social status and location.
MODALITIES FOR IMPROVED HEALTHCARE:
1. Borehole Projects: Initiate the drilling of boreholes in every community to ensure access to potable water.
2. Health Education Campaigns: I will roll out comprehensive health education, prevention, and screening programs, targeting diseases affecting our people, and promoting healthy living.
3.Community-Based Health Insurance: I will establish or enhance community-based health insurance schemes to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for healthcare.
4. Mobile Clinics: I will deploy mobile clinics to reach remote areas, ensuring that no one is left behind.
5. Primary Health Centers: I will establish new primary health centers in underserved areas and renovate existing ones, in collaboration with the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Our youth are the backbone of Biase future. I am committed to creating opportunities that will transform them into entrepreneurs and leaders of tomorrow.
MODALITIES FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT:
1. Vocational Training Centers: I will establish centers in each ward to provide skills training in various trades, ensuring our youth are equipped to start their own businesses.
2. Entrepreneurship Programs: Launch business incubation programs that provide seed funding, mentorship, and training to young entrepreneurs.
3. Partnerships with Corporations/NGO: I will ensure partnerships with local and international companies to create internships and employment opportunities for our youth.
4. Value Chain Development: Encourage the formation of cooperatives focused on processing and adding value to Biase LGA abundant agricultural resources, such as palm oil, plantains, and cassava.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND INCLUSION
Women are the pillars of our society. I will work to ensure that they are empowered, protected, and fully included in all aspects of governance and development.
*MODALITIES FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT:*
1. Economic Empowerment Programs: Establish microfinance schemes and vocational training specifically for women to enhance their economic independence.
2. Gender Equality Initiatives: I will provide opportunities that promote gender equality and combat gender-based violence, ensuring that women are safe and respected.
3. Women in Governance: Increase the representation of women in decision-making processes by appointing them to key positions within the council.
4. Education and Healthcare Access: Expand access to education and healthcare for women, ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive.
AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
Agriculture is the lifeblood of our economy. I will revitalize this sector by supporting our farmers and promoting agribusiness.
MODALITIES FOR AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT:
1. Formation of Cooperatives: Assist young farmers in forming cooperatives to access credit, training, and government programs.
2. Provision of Farming Inputs: Distribute improved seedlings, fertilizers, and other inputs to boost crop yields.
3. Market Access: Create linkages between farmers and markets, both locally and internationally, to ensure they get fair prices for their produce.
4. Irrigation Infrastructure: Develop small-scale irrigation projects to support all-year-round farming, most especially in the riverine areas of Biase.
EDUCATION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
Education is the key to unlocking our future potential. I will work tirelessly to ensure that our children receive the best education possible.
MODALITIES FOR EDUCATION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT:
1. Remote Learning Initiatives: Introduce long distance learning platforms and accessibility for both teachers and students, particularly in areas with a shortage of qualified educators.
2. Teacher Training Programs: Partner with the Teachers Continuous Training College (TCTC) to provide ongoing professional development for our teachers. Thanks to His Excellency Prof. Ivara Ejemot Esu, OFR, former Deputy Governor, for the establishment of this institution in Biase.
3. ICT Centers: I will establish ICT centers and also key into Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong initiatives to equip our youths with essential digital skills. Thanks to our Senator for establishing the ICT Centre in Biase Secondary school, Ehom.
4. Bursary Payment: Ensure that bursaries are provided to all Biase students in Tertiary institutions, reducing the financial burden on their families.
INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT.
Infrastructure is the backbone of economic and social development. My administration will prioritize the improvement of roads, public buildings, and other critical infrastructure.
MODALITIES FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT:
1. Community Road Rehabilitation: Partner with the state government and law makers to maintain and improve community roads, ensuring better connectivity and access to markets.
2. Council Headquarters: Renovate and modernize the local government headquarters to reflect our pride and commitment to governance.
3. Public Amenities: Invest in the construction and maintenance of public amenities, including Schools, health centers, and recreational facilities.
CONCLUSION:
My dear people of Biase, I stand before you with a heart full of hope and a mind committed to action. I am determined to empower individuals who can boast of at least a millionaire annually generated from the opportunities presented. I humbly solicit for your support in this election, not just as a vote for me, but as a vote for a future where peace, prosperity, and progress are supreme.
We can build a Biase Local Government Area that is a beacon of sustainable development; a government truly for the people, by the people.
