APC Cross River State Chapter REACT to PDP publication Tittle AYADE\’S ATTEMPT TO STOP PDP FLAG-OFF RALLY: A JOKE TAKEN TOO FAR
RE: AYADE\’S ATTEMPT TO STOP PDP FLAG-OFF RALLY: A JOKE TAKEN TOO FAR
The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has been drawn to a spurious publication by my colleague in the People\’s Democratic Party on the above subject matter.
As a serious party that we are, the APC is more concerned with engaging voters in the field ahead of the forthcoming bye-elections in Ogoja/Yala and Akpabuyo Constituencies. So we would ordinarily ignore this distraction from the PDP. However, we recognize the necessity to counter the lies and propaganda that define the essence of the PDP, so that the unsuspecting members of the public are not misinformed on the venue that was still used by the PDP
For a start, Governor Ayade has no such control over the security agencies operating in the State, so he could not have directed them to prevent the PDP from doing whatever takes their fancy, inasmuch as it does not violate public law and order. The Police and other security agencies have their standard operating procedures and reserve the prerogative to undertake any action that will engender the maintenance of public law and order. They do not need the Governor\’s directives in this regard.
Secondly, the fact that the PDP chose to organize a rally in Calabar for elections holding in far away Ogoja/Yala and Akpabuyo speaks of the kind of strategic deficiencies in the Party. Except, of course, they are up to their usual shenanigans, for which they have been duly found out. One can then deduce that staging an impromptu rally in Calabar for elections holding in other far away locations in the State, and on the same day that the APC Youth Summit is ongoing in Calabar is a deliberate attempt by the PDP to invite public chaos.
Thirdly, Governor Ayade and the APC are currently in the political trenches campaigning vigorously to sell our candidates for the bye-elections to the electorate in the affected constituencies. It is obvious that the PDP has recognized their growing unpopularity and increasing rejection by the people and the fear of the imminent loss has driven them to resorting to this propaganda, unsurprisingly, as it is their known stock in trade.
We, as a friendly competitor, will like to advise the PDP to face their fears headlong instead of crying wolf where none exists. Governor Ben Ayade and the APC are conscious of the fact that elections are won and lost with the electorate, so the PDP should meet us in the field.
It is a public fact that only the APC is busy campaigning in the field. Let it be known that we are aware of the surreptitious plans by the PDP to rig elections through the back door, while creating these distractions as a diversion, and we will resist any such attempts to the maximum. Only the electorate will determine who represents them in Ogoja/Yala Federal and Akpabuyo State Constituencies.
