“The project is a package of solutions in regards to lecture venues. That is where the necessity lies. As Postgraduate students, we don’t have a befitting and dedicated lecture hall. You’ll see postgraduate students either having lectures in lecturers offices or even share and sometimes struggles lecture venues with undergraduate students. It’s uncalled for, especially now that we’ve been elevated from Postgraduate school to College of Postgraduate Studies”.

He emphasized the importance of the project, saying that the building has 10 fantastic lecture halls with spacious space to accommodate atleast 50-students in each, and when it’s completed, atleast the challenge of lecture venues would’ve been taken care of.

Appealing for the support of meaningful Nigerians, the PGSG President Prince Obedience Abeng said that the huge project is an initiative of the students and the expenses thus far has been from students donations hence, supports in which ever form, not necessarily monetary supports but material wise would be appreciated.

For those who have been following the activities of the University closely, it could be recalled that the students Association most recently built and commissioned a state-of-the-art secretariat in 2022 which many rated as a project fitting into the class of Federal Government’s mega agencies.

However, while it is true that this is the first time in the history of the over 49th years institution that students are embarking on, and executing projects of various magnitude, many have attributed the students successes to the phenomenal leadership of the 11th, and first female Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Florence Banku Obi who has changed the leadership and academic trajectory of the second generation University.
