College of Nursing Sciences in Cross River State Accreditation: SA Nursing Commend Gov. Otu
The Special Assistant to the Cross River States Governor on Nursing, Coco-Bassey Esu, stated during the Cross River State House of Assembly (CRSHA) Committee’s visit to the Ministry of Health that the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, has fully funded the accreditation of the College of Nursing Sciences in Cross River State. This step ensures the college meets both professional status and MBTC standards.
According to Coco-Bassey, this development means that nurses graduating from these colleges will be eligible for employment in primary, secondary and tertiary health facilities.
In a significant move aimed at enhancing the delivery of quality and efficient health services to residents of Cross River State, the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Rt. Hon. Hilary Bisong, led a delegation to meet with the Commissioner for Health and other stakeholders to discuss ongoing efforts to improve healthcare services in the state.
The Chairman and his team pledged their continued support for the state government’s initiatives to strengthen the healthcare sector. The visit provided an opportunity for the committee to gain firsthand insights into the challenges facing the healthcare system and explore solutions
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ayuk, and his team briefed the committee on various initiatives and programs aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the state. Dr. Ayuk emphasized that one of the Ministry’s primary objectives is achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), ensuring that every citizen has access to a basic minimum package of healthcare services.
Coco-Bassey Esu reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to investing in quality nursing education, state-of-the-art health facilities, and clinical nursing training to provide top-tier healthcare to the people of Cross River State.
The committee expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far in the health sector and pledged their continued support for the government’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery across the state.
